Thank you all for your patience as we navigate all the challenges that the Coronavirus (Covid-19) has presented. This regional contest will continue in virtual format.
The new project due date for your regional contest is Friday, April 3rd. This April 3rd project deadline for the regional contest is a hard deadline and will not shift again even if schools stay closed longer than the projected two-week plan. As long as we have the student’s project materials in some form by the end of the day on April 3rd, they will be judged and considered.
Projects should be submitted by following the guides listed below.
If you are unable to follow these guides, but still wish to participate, please contact Karen Ipock for guidance (email: firstname.lastname@example.org or phone: 919-814-6639). Please understand that some problems may not have a solution, but we will do the best we can to overcome as many challenges as we can while remaining fair to other contest participants.
Two suggestions for challeges by category:
- Group Performances – If you do not already have a recording of your performance, just submit your script and use your available words in the process paper to discuss costumes, props, etc.
- Exhibits – If you do not have access to your exhibit to take photos, design a virtual mock-up of the exhibit in PowerPoint, Google Slides, or a word document that shows your text, images, captions, etc. by exhibit panel or section. Remember that word counts will still apply, and that you want the virtual format to match the actual exhibit as much as possible.
We will announce regional contest results by April 10th and will send more information on how this announcement will be made. All 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finalists in each category will be eligible to move on to the virtual state contest.
Thank you for your patience and dedication to help History Day to continue!
